Designated as a fishing pier, the pier sees heavy traffic from tourists and locals. Diving and swimming around the pier is not permitted, except for once a year when a local dive shop, Dixie Divers, organizes a cleanup to remove fishing line and other debris. The ocean can get very rough during storms; watch the fish swirl around on these days!
